Brent's Place

Services: Educational Resources, Lodging, Patient Support, Practical Support, Sibling Support
Founded: 1987

There is a place where families are offered hope and healing when facing the most demanding time of their lives. There is a place where kids being treated for life threatening cancer can still be kids. This place is Brent's Place.

Since its inception, Brent’s Place has remained the only hospital approved “Safe-Clean” housing facility for immune compromised patients and their families, providing a living environment that is essential to healing and recovery. Conveniently located near the Anschutz Medical Campus, Brent's Place is designed to offer families “Safe-Clean” individualized housing in an environment virtually free from dander, dust, mold and other infectious agents.

Brent's Place, a program and facility created by the Brent Eley Foundation, bridges the gap between the hospital and going home.

Brent's Place apartments are designed, furnished and supplied to create a healing environment for our families. Our housing is:

  • “Safe-Clean”: Brent’s Place is designed and maintained to eliminate infectious agents and the risk of exposure to others. Our “Safe-Clean” protocols, developed in partnership with Children’s Hospital Colorado, conform to the best practice standards established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Close to treatment facilities: Located only blocks from the hospitals we serve, patients can quickly access emergency care and daily follow-up appointments.
  • Self-contained and suitable for an entire family: Brent's Place is equipped to accommodate up to 5 family members in each apartment, maintaining an intact family structure. Each apartment includes every amenity and space necessary for everyday living during time periods when the patient requires complete isolation from others.
  • Free of Charge: The generous support of our community enables Brent’s Place to maintain full financial accessibility for any family in need of our assistance.

Brent's Place also offers an extremely wide array of support programs to meet the complex needs of each member of the family and caregiver team. These support programs include healthy and homemade meals prepared by volunteers and served 3-4 times a week; community outings and a variety of in-house activities including crafts, movie nights and massages; extensive entertainment opportunities to help families maintain a sense of normalcy where possible; and emotional and psychological support that helps each member of the family cope with the challenges they face each day, including regular and frequent access to a clinical psychologist and chaplain.
